Tempel Synagogue

Our first stop this morning was to the Tempel Synagogue. Built 1860-1862, the Tempel synagogue is a an example of an Enlightnement Jewish synagogue in which a modernizing Jewish community worshipped. While at the synagogue we learned the story of Osias Thon who was the synagogue's rabbi as well as a Zionist leader, and member of the Polish Senate between the wars. We davened Shacharit morning services and learned the Krakow Nigun by Rabbi Shlomo Carlebach to which we danced bringing thsynagogue to life once again. This is also the synagogue where we had Shabbat Services yesterday.
