This morning we were greeted at synagogue with news of the terrible tragedy that has happened today to Poland. We are deeply saddened by the loss of President Kacynski and the other people who were traveling with him. Like our March of the Living program, the President was planning to take part in a memorial service commemorating a massacre of Poles in the Soviet Union 70 years ago. Our heartfelt condolences are with the Polish people and our Polish staff who have been so wonderful in working with us even in this time of terrible mourning for them and their nation.
We will continue to work with our Polish staff and we will be conitnually assesing how this tragedy may impact our program. At this time, we don't anticipate that it will require us to make major changes but I will keep you updated in the event that that should happen. we are planning to use this as a learning experience for our students and we have asked our Polish guide to address them later today about what this means for Poland moving forward. I will continue to update all of you as appropriate.
I am sorry you, along with the polish staff, have to experience such a tragedy. Give all of the kids my best.
